O'Fallon Sump Pump Installation and Repair

Sump Pump Specialists in O’Fallon, Florissant, and Chesterfield

Keep your basement safe and dry with sump pump installation or repair. Armstrong Plumbing's licensed plumbers are ready to fix any sump pump issue fast. As midwesterners, we know how quickly rainy or icy weather can do a number on the pipes and flood the basement. Standing water is never a good thing and sump pumps, when working correctly, help to push stagnant water out of basements and crawl spaces. When excess water overwhelms a plumbing system, you may need a sump pump to get water out of your home.

A sump pump is a type of pumping system used to remove standing water from a basement or low-level area. These machines collect accumulated water and pump it out of the location. Depending on your situation and the severity of the problem, Armstrong Plumbing's professionals can recommend the right equipment at the best price. For low lying areas or places prone to flooding a sump pump can be a wise investment.

Many modern sump pumps do more than just keep basements free from flooding. Now, many are equipped with sensors and alarms to allow the homeowner to know if there is any issue with the system. We install sump pumps, and perform the required regular maintenance to make sure they work reliably. We can even be there same day for repairs and maintenance.

5 Signs It's Time to Replace Your Sump Pump

Here are five signs indicating it might be time to replace your sump pump:

  1. Unusual Noises: Grinding, rattling, or other abnormal sounds coming from the sump pump can indicate mechanical issues or wear and tear that necessitates replacement.
  2. Frequent Cycling: If the pump turns on and off frequently, it might be due to a malfunctioning switch or an undersized pump. This could lead to premature failure and signals a need for replacement.
  3. Rust and Corrosion: Visible rust or corrosion on the pump can compromise its efficiency and structural integrity, indicating that it’s time for a new pump.
  4. Continuous Running: A pump that runs constantly without turning off might not be able to handle the water volume, or there could be a problem with the float switch or check valve, suggesting the need for a new unit.
  5. Age of the Pump: Sump pumps typically last about 7-10 years. If your pump is approaching or exceeding this age range, it's wise to consider a replacement before it fails during a heavy storm or flooding event.

Common Answers To Your Questions

Have questions? We are here to help. Still have questions or can't find the answer you need? Give us a call at 636-538-5179 today!

  • How do I know if I need to replace a main water line?

This is usually a matter of age and condition. If the pipes in your home are older than 50 years or so, you should be checking them regularly for signs of rust or corrosion. Corroded water lines need to be replaced right away.

  • What can I do about a leaky faucet?

Often, a leaky faucet is caused by a corroded O-ring, gasket, or valve seal. Try shutting off the water and removing the faucet handle. You may be able to fix the problem by tightening the nut that holds all the internal parts in place. You may also want to try disassembling the faucet to inspect its components. If you notice a part that is broken, replacing that part can do the trick. If you continue having problems with a dripping faucet, give us a call.

  • Is there a way to prevent clogged drains in my house?

Yes! First of all, don't put things down your drains that don't belong there: this includes hair, oil or grease, coffee grounds, hard food and egg shells. A drain stopper or filter can also stop larger materials from going down your drain and clogging it.
